The Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail

Completed in 1996, the 32 km Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail represents the third and final portion of an 80 km route of the abandoned Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railway that was converted into a multi-use interurban recreation trail. This system, referred to as the Hamilton-Brantford-Cambridge Trails, offers some of the best bicycling and hiking opportunities in southern Ontario.

The Hamilton section of the trail runs through the scenic Dundas Valley Conservation Area, home of the Thomas A. Beckett Forest and the Dundas Valley Trail Centre, a sanctuary park and rest area with indoor washroom facilities, gift shop and snack bar. Kilometre distances are marked at most locations along the trail and parking areas can accommodate vehicles and equestrian trailers. The trail is surfaced with stone dust and is suitable for bikes, walkers and equestrians.

Donations to the Hamilton Conservation Foundation in support of trail maintenance and development are greatly appreciated.

Trail enthusiasts will soon be able to enjoy a new 15 km multi-use recreation trail. The Chippawa Trail is now under development and has become an official link in the Trans Canada Trail network. Cost to complete the trail is $735,000. You can help build a metre of this spectacular new corridor by making a donation of only $30 - click here!
